Back to Basics
A great quick read with a valuable lesson!!

A quick read with a great lesson
Obvious Adams is written over 8 decades ago, but I find it most interesting that the lessons apply quite well to today world.

I think this book must have helped shape Ogilvy's philosophy.

Get the facts. Find out what people want. Give it to them. Often the simplest solution is the best.

Seems obvious, doesn't it.

Of Long Memory: Mississippi and the Murder of Medgar Evers
Published in Paperback by Perseus Publishing (May, 1995)
Author: Adam Nossiter
Average review score:

Excellent
I concur with the previous reviewer. Mr. Nossiter has produced a well-researched and fascinating chronicle of the case of Medgar Evers, including a detailed and chilling portrait of his assassin. Nossiter also effectively re-creates the eerie atmosphere of early 1960's Mississippi, where the Klan, the White Citizens' Council, and the Sovereignty Commission flourished, and where a man like Beckwith would become a sort of folk hero to his fellow racists. However, it is also a story of dogged determination and the quest for justice, as exemplified by Myrlie Evers and Bobby DeLaughter, whose efforts culminated in the long-overdue conviction of Beckwith. It is a story of tragedy and triumph, skillfully crafted by a talented and deeply insightful writer. Well done, Mr. Nossiter!

Well written, emotional and insightful.
Forget the Movie. This is the book to read about the assisination of Medgar Evers and the subsequent retrial some 30 years later of the killer.

The author provides a moving and engrossing story as well as sharp analysis of the social conditions and personalities involved.

Official Flying Rhinoceros How to Draw Cartoons Survival Kit
Published in Paperback by Walter Foster Pub (January, 1997)
Authors: Raymond D. Nelson, Douglas Kelly, and Ben Adams
Average review score:

A very great cartooning kit!
This book set is perfect for any cartoonist, from 1 to 99. It gives easy-to-follow directions, and many examples. I got this when I was 10, and it impacted my drawing skills a whole lot! This is worth the money you pay for it.

A great way to interest a budding young illustrator.
In his own words, my 7 year old "LOVES drawing cartoons. I tried to draw before I got the kit but I love to do it all the time now that I have the kit. It's the bestest book I ever had." His illustrations are detailed and professional, and he has the confidence to draw on his own and create new stories.

What fun
My daughter has learned several animal sounds thanks to this book. She loves the bright pictures and the song. We read this one often.

What a great book!
This is a terriffic book for use in the music classroom, and at home. As a book that can be either sung or read: it is versatile. It's large size and colorful illustrations draw kids attention. I have personally found it to be very effective with my kindergarten through third grade students. I highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a good book for younger kids that can be sung or read!

Pathology II (Platinum Vignettes)
Published in Paperback by Hanley & Belfus (June, 2003)
Author: Adam, Md. Brochert
Average review score:

Excellent pathology review source
After studying like crazy for a full month for the USMLE, I needed a break from reading textbooks. I decided to check out this case-based review because a friend recommended it. I am still thanking him for this recommendation. This book and the other books in the series really prepare you well for the USMLE, because they get you used to the long clinical vignettes that made up most of my exam. The cases and explanantions are EXTREMELY high-yield and very concise but thorough. I recommend the whole series for anyone who wants to do well on the Step 1 exam.

Fantastic!
This is wonderful review books. Excellent writing and informacion. Great pictures and examples. I do much, much better on exam from this books.

Perfect Times, Perfect Places
Published in Hardcover by Aperture (November, 1988)
Author: Robert Adams
Average review score:

Insightful photography of the western prairie
Robert Adams' photographs are testimony to his continued sensitivity to the West and the hopes for what is POSSIBLE. Adams is one of the most influential photographers of the late 20th century and all photographers concerned about their own environment can learn from him.

This photo collection is a pleasure to see.
The photographs in this publication are a departure from Robert Adams' more sobering work. This book celebrates the simple joy of spending time outside, looking and exploring, and it just might incite spring fever in you.

Platinum Vignettes: Basic Sciences Behavioral Science and Biostatistics
Published in Paperback by Hanley & Belfus (June, 2003)
Author: Adam Brochert
Average review score:

Behavioral made bearable
Not a big fan of behavioral science, but this book makes it bearable by focusing on what you'll be tested on and helping you distinguish similar conditions from each other. Good biostatistics section also included. Great information and great figures to help you understand the info. Strongly recommend - the rest of the series is also outstanding.

Run to the bookstore and buy this one!
I'm not much for writing reviews, but this book and series helped me so much I felt obligated to let people know about it. I'm very interested in psychiatry, which is why I applied to medical school, thus I wanted to write a review on this particular volume of the series. This book is composed of 50 case presentations with questions at the end of each case, followed by the explanations/answers to the questions.

The cases and explanations are superb, concise and get right to the "meat and potatoes" of every subject. After taking step 1, I can recommend this format without hesitation. I also thought the BRS Behavioral Science review book was very good.
